Spotlight on Talent: Paul Highway

Paul Highway
Level 2, 3 and 4 Automotive
“Since starting the course I’ve had a lot of good opportunities come my way from gaining experience at a couple of local garages and being offered a part on Car SOS helping to restore cars and test different parts.”
After training and working as a fencer did not meet his ambitions, Paul made the leap to pursue a different career path and enrolled on to an evening Automotive course. Fast forward to today and he is now working towards a degree level qualification and has gained experience as a diagnostics technician at a specialist Mercedes garage and as part of the mechanics team on the popular TV show, Car SOS.
“I always knew that working as a fencer wasn’t for me, so after getting a job as a tyre fitter and being around cars, I decided it was time to turn something I enjoyed into a career. I enrolled on to the evening course so that I could still work during the day and support myself.

“Going back to college has driven me a lot further than I first anticipated. I was offered a full time role after I achieved my Level 3 certificate, but I was determined to develop my knowledge to a higher level and opted to complete the Level for HNC. As well as studying part time, I have also set up my own garage and I am using the skills to help me grow my business and make it as successful as possible.”
