Sarah Wilks has enjoyed being in supervisory and managerial roles throughout her career so far at Worcestershire County Council. Eager to further develop her skills, she decided to pursue a degree qualification and achieve chartered manager status when the opportunity presented itself.
She is proud of her success, having achieved first class honours and become the first person in her family to complete a degree,
“Achieving Chartered Manager status has made my three years’ study and hard work worthwhile,” said Sarah who is currently a safeguarding adult reviews manager and board coordinator.
“It has expanded my knowledge, skills, behaviours and confidence to be more visible and effective in my current role and strive to lead on future change management projects with maximum impact.”
Project management was one of the modules that Sarah enjoyed studying most. It allowed her to apply her academic learning to a real time business need, taking her through the process of outlining a project from beginning to end.
Sarah’s long-term career goal is become a transformational leader within a dynamic Senior Leadership Team. She is considering pursuing a Level 7 Masters degree in line with this.
“The course has ignited an academic passion in me that I didn’t know was there,” continued Sarah. “I am now committed to continual learning and development beyond my job role.”
