Award winning and rewarding work by property maintenance trio

When estates team members, Thomas Davis, Daniel Pickin and Babita Rani received Black Country Healthcare Heroes awards, they could not have been more pleased.
The awards were seen as testament to the pride they take in their work across different Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust sites. They also acknowledged the many skills the trio are developing both on and off the job through an apprenticeship-based qualification with Walsall College.
Thomas, Daniel and Babita have been receiving training in brickwork, block paving and rendering in addition to painting and decorating. They are now putting these skills into practice at their respective sites in West Bromwich, Brownhills and Wolverhampton.
Their enthusiasm for their roles and professionalism towards colleagues, patients, and their families were soon noticed, resulting in them winning Black Country Healthcare Heroes awards.
“We encourage all our estates staff to benefit from relevant training and support so they thrive in their work environment and enjoy all they do,” said Dean Chilton, their supervisor. “This helps us retain them long term, whether in their existing roles or through internal progression, which we actively support.
“Their estates team colleagues and I are pleased that Thomas, Daniel and Babita have been recognised as Black Country Healthcare Heroes. All three go above and beyond to help others and are very responsive when it comes to getting jobs done promptly when required.
“Their dedication and hard work not only enhance the environments in which they work but also set a great example for others. We look forward to seeing them continue to grow in their careers.”
