Rhys Humphries believes college was the making of him. He says he was in an environment that gave him the freedom to find his own way, alongside support from lecturers and the wider college network.
“My success has been because of my lecturers and others in college, plus my friends,” he said. “I overcame personal issues, including doubts about my future. I found out I was capable of achieving more than I expected.”
Rhys chose the study the VTQ sport pathway because of the mix of practical activities and theory work. He was even surprised to find the academic learning interesting and easier to understand than he first thought.
“I wasn’t an A grade science student at school so I didn’t think I’d do well or even enjoy the module on anatomy and physiology,” continued Rhys. “But I was taught about it in lots of ways that I could get fully involved in. I ended up with Distinctions on both my assignments.
“I left college excited about what’s possible and having learnt a lot about myself.”
