An Access to Computing course was ideal for me as it meant I could gain the skills and knowledge to help me get on to a good university course and the career I wanted.
Balraj Bharaj
Access to Computing now Junior website developer at E4K
Balraj swapped the construction site for the world of computers and hasn’t looked back; a work experience placement whilst studying on the access course has turned in to a part time job with a cutting edge website design agency in Birmingham. With a place on the college’s Level 4 HNC in Software development course and ambitions to achieve a full degree qualification, Balraj has a promising career ahead of him.
“Since I can remember I’ve always had an interest in computing, but I didn’t achieve great A-Level results and ended up working as a labourer on a construction site. I wanted to move my career forward but I knew that to get a good job in the computing industry, I would need a degree and for that I would need a level 3 qualification.
“An Access to Computing course was ideal for me as it meant I could gain the skills and knowledge to help me get on to a good university course and the career I wanted.
“I’ve learnt new IT skills which I am already applying my skills and knowledge of web development in a working environment at E4K and I enjoy studying alongside other like-minded students. It made a lot of sense for me to stay and move on to the HNC course and I’m looking forward to achieving a degree in Computing.”
