Kings Norton Boys School experience rooftop views at Construction College Midlands
A group of students from Kings Norton Boys School have been ‘up on the roof’ as part of a week of taster sessions delivered at Construction College Midlands.
The Year 11 students donned hi-vis jackets, safety hats and boots and tried their hands at tiling techniques. They all received certificates of participation at the end of their training.
Arthur Jevons, Training Delivery Manager said: “This was an excellent way for us to open students’ eyes to construction site-based roles they may not be aware of. Demand for qualified roofers is increasing so we were able to dispel myths about what the work involves and how people can start out in the industry.”
He added: “Now that we have established this new taster session programme, we hope to welcome other students from different ages groups and different schools in the future. Female students will be welcomed too.”
The activity was supported by Sam Elford, engagement advisor at CITB.
