Sindy snaps second Walsall Mayor official portrait
Photographer and Walsall College graduate, Sindy Weals has captured the official portrait of the Mayor of Walsall for the second year running. Councillor Rose Burley was photographed wearing her chains of office, alongside her Deputies, daughter, Marie and granddaughter, Jade.
The photograph was taken in Darlaston Town Hall where the Mayor serves as Councillor.
The Mayor said that it felt right for Sindy to take her portrait following her success with the previous Mayor the year before. She added that she was pleased with the natural smiles from herself, daughter and granddaughter that were captured on camera.
The portrait now has pride of place in the Mayors Parlour.
Sindy, who completed a BA Hons in Photography in 2021 said: “It was an honour and pleasure to take the Mayor’s portrait.”
Another Walsall College photography graduate, Guy Weals supported Sindy during the photoshoot.
The assignment is one of a number of official commissions being carried out by current and former Walsall College photography students. Birmingham and Solihull’s Bench Chairman at Birmingham Magistrates Court and city magistrates have also had their official portraits taken.
