Spotlight on Talent – Rahema Khan
Studied: GCSE English and maths
Progression: Law degree at the University of Wolverhampton
By achieving her GCSE English and maths qualifications and beginning a degree, Rahema Khan believes she is finally working towards her one, true passion; a career in law.
“This is the start of many ambitions I hope to fulfil as a student,” said Rahema. “Growing up, I didn’t really know what sort of job I wanted to do. Just that I wanted a career. Getting married and having a family did take priority. Now that my children are older, I’m willing to give things a go. Even if it has meant starting from scratch.”
Mother-of-five, Rahema is keen to understand more about legal systems and processes. She hopes to use this knowledge to help others.
She added: “I am conscious of being a mature student, but I’ve seen others in a similar position to me go all the way. I’m aware, I’ll need help with certain things when I’m at uni, just as I did at college. Even so, I know that support is there. And I’m not afraid to ask for it as I might have been in the past.
“Now that I have the opportunity, I don’t want to give up. I want to see how far I can go.”
