College community commemorate Remembrance Day with falling poppy tribute
A shower of poppies descended from the air during a Remembrance Day service at Walsall College on Monday 11 November.
Hundreds of Walsall College students and staff gathered in the college’s main Wisemore Campus reception to pay tribute to the fallen and reflect on their sacrifice.
Adam Comery, Curriculum Manager for Public Services said: “Every year, we pay tribute to those who fought in conflicts past and present for the freedoms that we enjoy today.
“The poppies were a new addition to this event, one which helped to make the ceremony much more poignant.”
He added: “It’s important that we continue to honour the bravery of these individuals, particularly those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
A piper opened the ceremony before public services students and staff performed readings. During the two-minute silence at 11.00am, the poppies then fell to the ground.
