Spotlight on Talent : Muskan Srivastava
Studied: Level 3 Software Development
Progression: HND Software Development
Creative, challenging and fun are the three words Muskan Shrivastava uses to describe what being a computing student is like. The one word she would never use is boring.
“With software development, you can do your own thing, be imaginative and problem-solve,” she explained. “It really surprises me when other people don’t see this.
“I really enjoy it.
“And you can put your work out there straightaway if you want to.”
Muskan’s ambition to work as a software developer began while she was growing up in India where members of her family were already working in computing.
“I’ve always been interested in how apps are put together, especially the process of trying to build something and seeing what works best. There’s potential in everything you work on. This is an area I want to keep building my knowledge in.”
Muskan values her Level 3 course for helping her improve her awareness of app-making and functionality, webpage creation and for teaching her the C programming language. The course also helped her face her fear of giving presentations in class.
As a HND student she continues to gain skills at a higher level including learning more about Java Script.
“The environment and facilities are really good. I’m planning to complete my full degree at the college, then look for work. There are already a lot of software development language-based roles out there so there’s lots of choice. I feel like I’m getting all the experience I need for my career here.”
