Walsall College lecturer shortlisted at the TES FE Awards 2021
The most outstanding individuals and institutions that the further education sector has to offer have been recognised in the shortlist for the 2021 Tes FE Awards.
It’s been revealed that Vicki Banks is shortlisted for the Teacher of the Year award.
Vicki, a lecturer in sport has been nominated in recognition of the way she has adapted her delivery of online learning to ensure inclusivity for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
“The news that I’m on the shortlist is still sinking in,” said Vicki who has worked at the college since 2008. “I feel honoured to be in the running for this award.”
“Student interaction and engagement in the subject being taught is of course vital in lessons. This is whether they’re online or in a live setting.
“Using a range of technologies and teaching methods allows my learners to access the support and resources they need to progress. It also breaks down barriers, enabling learners to work with each other, promoting communication and inclusion which the class as a whole has benefited from.”
Tes head of FE Julia Belgutay said: “Further education providers have excelled in what has been a truly challenging year. The amazing individuals, teams and institutions on our Tes FE Awards shortlist showcase that. Our judges were highly impressed with the calibre of entries. I want to congratulate everyone who has made the shortlist. It is a brilliant achievement.”
Winners will be announced on Friday 28 May 2021 during a virtual awards ceremony.
