Ruby Doo helps get travel and tourism students into event-mode
Local entertainment company, Ruby Doo has been giving a helping hand to travel and tourism students.
Company director and lead entertainer, Emily Ruby met Level 3 students planning and delivering their own event in June. This is for their course unit in Entertainment.
With Covid impacting on the hosting of parties and events, Emily, described how she has been adapting the baby and toddler sessions Ruby Doo are well known for. She also spoke about how she expects their party entertainment services to run during the rest of lockdown.
Emily, who established her business five years ago, shared lots of guidance on creating a successful entertainment programme. This included being confident and enthusiastic. Most importantly, researching and planning an event around the target audience.
She also suggested games and suitable music that students could use.
Emily said: “I was happy spending time with the students, describing the rewarding things this industry has to offer. My main message to them about events is being prepared, being confident and having fun. If you achieve this, you’ll be a success.”
She continued: “The pandemic has had a tremendous impact on businesses like ours, still affecting how we are currently operating. However, creative problem solving is just one of our key strengths, along with determination.
“This is helping us continue working in the safest possible way, while coming up with plans to be as lively and active as ever in the near future.”
Feedback from students included the following:
- “This session is helping me develop; providing an insight into what to think about when creating events and parties.”
- “I am now aware of the wider aspects that go into planning activities and events. I will apply this information in my assignments for the entertainment unit.”
- “Emily spoke about all the factors she needs to consider to ensure her business continues to build its reputation. She educated us on how to successfully ensure all points are covered.”
- “Emily gave us lots of examples of the factors that I hadn’t even thought about when it comes to an event. I enjoyed the session.”
