Local charities ‘cheque in’ with business students
A big splash and a big slice of fundraising by business students at Walsall College has led to two local charities receiving big donations. Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Midlands and Smile for Joel were presented with donations of £579.96
Level 3 students raised the money after planning a series of activities including car washes, bake sales and raffles, as well as collecting donations. The initiatives were designed to encourage them to put business principles into practice and see how successful these would be.
Jayme Shepherd, Local Fundraising Officer for CRUK Midlands said: “Here at Cancer Research UK we are incredibly grateful to all the students and staff at Walsall College for their hard work and innovative fundraising in raising this amazing amount. This donation will help us fund ground-breaking research to accelerate progress so that by 2034, 3 in 4 people will survive cancer. We couldn’t achieve this without the support of our wonderful fundraisers, so thank you so much for your support!”
