‘Exceptional’ achievements showcased during student awards ceremony
Resilience was the key theme of Walsall College’s 2021 Student Awards Ceremony. 30 ‘exceptional’ V6 (sixth form) and adult students were named Students of the Year for their individual subject areas.
Nominated by tutors, the awards congratulated learners that had excelled in their studies and gone the extra mile in order to further develop their professional and personal skills.
Speaking at the ceremony, Principal and Chief Executive, Jatinder Sharma said: “While the pandemic provided everyone with unique opportunities to learn and grow, there were barriers and hardships to overcome as well. The resilience developed and demonstrated by our winning students over this last year is inspirational.
“We were delighted to celebrate their journeys. And wish them well as they move further with their training or begin their exciting careers.”
The overall 2021 V6 Student of the Year was Dayna Parsotame. After studying Level 1 and 2 Health and Social Care is progressing on to Level 3. Her award nominator, described Dayna as having ‘a kind, gentle nature which will make her an excellent healthcare professional and asset to any healthcare setting’.
The overall 2021 Adult Student of the Year was Danny Steele. The award was in recognition of the great commitment and enthusiasm he displayed throughout his Access to Computing course. This included a high standard of work, with great attention to detail in his practical and theory-assignments.
