Coming to you in August 2020 – Opportunities to grow and thrive with the new Engineering Apprenticeship Standards
Bring fresh talent to your business
Walsall College is supporting engineering and manufacturing employers by offering the newly developed Engineering apprenticeship standards.
So far, the engineering apprenticeship standards available include:
- Level 2 Engineering Operative (15 months)
- Level 3 Engineering Technician (42 months, 45 months with EPA)
The standards have been developed in conjunction with an employer trailblazer group that includes BAE Systems plc, Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd, The Institution of Engineering and Technology, Rolls-Royce plc and Babcock International Group.
The Level 2 Engineering Operative is a 15-month course focusing on tailored engineering operation skills.
As well as the Level 2 Engineering Operative, there is also further advancement available in the Level 3 Engineering Technician role. This allows the apprentice to become efficient in designing, building, servicing and repairing a range of engineering products and services.
This new apprenticeship standard enables the Level 3 Engineering Technician apprentice to be working on the job earlier then before, with 3 days per week studying for the first year, reducing by a day each year into the apprenticeship.
The Level 3 Engineering Technician Standard will also have specific training delivered by specialist tutors with specific pathways designed so your apprentice has the right knowledge to help your business.
Pathways include:
- Technical Support Technician
- Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
- Product Design and Development Technician
