A big reception for induction artwork
While people might expect to see a textbook, calculator, pen and ID badge around college, they might not expect to come across life-size versions of the items. That is unless they are the art and design students responsible for creating them.
Level 2 students spent their first week of their course creating the objects as an induction project aimed at helping them settle into the college’s art studio space. It was also a way for them to work in groups and get to know one another.
The finished pieces of art promote the importance of students being ready, respectful and safe (wearing their ID badges at all times and coming to lessons on time and prepared), plus attending English and maths classes along with their full and part-time courses. Two installations are in place in the Wisemore Campus atrium where they continue to attract a lot of interest.
Other pieces created include a guitar with a music score for the song, Hakuna Matata, plus a scroll decorated with messages.
