Walsall College celebrates successful Matrix Quality CEIAG reaccreditation

Strong collaborations and a high level of student support have resulted in Walsall College once again achieving the Matrix IAG Award reaccreditation for a further three years. The award recognises the effectiveness of the college’s careers education information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) services.
Assessors from The Growth Company who deliver the Matrix Standard on behalf of the Department for Education met with the Careers, Welcome Host, Apprenticeship Recruitment, Employer Engagement Teams and the team at The Link to explore how college learners, apprentices and customers are supported in achieving their study, training and career goals by providing thorough and effective IAG.
Commenting on the college’s success, Jenny Clarke, Careers Co-ordinator at the College said: “The college is dedicated to delivering proactive CEIAG services that are comprehensive, far-reaching and impactful. We also make every effort to ensure our services are impartial and accessible to school or college leavers, and aspiring apprentices as well as jobseekers and people looking to retrain or upskill.
“Being reaccredited with the Matrix Standard is testament to the success of the initiatives we have in place and our ability to continue developing our provision.”
The Matrix Assessment Report praised the college’s Progression and Next Steps Programme which enables curriculum areas to align classroom learning to specific job roles and industry opportunities. This is with support from the careers guidance team, curriculum collaboration and other business support teams, university and employer partners.
Recognition was also made for the way the college’s partners collaborate with the careers guidance team through onsite events including Higher Education Fairs and Jobs and Careers Fairs.
The College first achieved the Matrix Standard in 2007.
