The girls’ football team make it to AoC Sport championship finals
Walsall College’s girls’ football team are celebrating after winning the regional AoC Sport championships in Stoke, beating BMET College in the final.
The team will now go forward to represent the West Midlands region in the National Finals, which will be held in Nottingham in April next year.
AoC Sport is the lead organisation for college sport and physical activity. The membership organisation aims to support young people who are in education to develop a wide range of skills, including self-discipline, resilience, positive decision-making, maintaining a healthy lifestyle and respect for those around them.
Mark Howard, “We are extremely proud of our girls for the success they have achieved – they have represented Walsall College tremendously.
It’s hard to believe they only started playing together in September. They have been on an incredible journey in a short space of time and winning at the regional tournament is a massive accomplishment.
“The students are fully committed and attend regular training sessions. The national finals may be a few months away, but they are quietly confident they can repeat their success when they represent the West Midlands.”
Walsall College offers a range of Sport courses to school leavers, including supported learning students.
