Students explore business travel during office visit
Travel and tourism students at Walsall College recently enjoyed the opportunity to explore the business of domestic and international travel when they visited the offices of awarding-winning business travel agent, ClickTravel.
The visit to the company’s Birmingham-based offices was linked to the Level 3 students’ unit about business travel; a sector that has continued to grow through the pandemic.
Learners received talks from representatives in different departments including customer care and the meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) team. This helped them identify how they all connect and work together to provide the best service to their customers.
They also received an overview of how ClickTravel have become industry leaders with their use of new technologies.
Having joined with TravelPerk, thereby becoming an international business travel agent, the students were left feeling excited by the career prospects open to them from this local base.
Lecturer, Kelly Bunce said: “With our learners coming to the end of their studies this summer and then preparing to enter employment, it was beneficial for them to explore this side of industry and its many operations. The organisation’s focus on digital technologies was also something that opened the students’ up to new ways of working and delivering high quality customer services.”
