Off the job training – in a van

A Worcester Bosch training van made a tour stop at Walsall College to showcase its latest range of boilers to apprentices.
The visit was part of Worcester Boschβs college link scheme, which helps trainee engineers on the 9074 Gas Engineering Standard gain a better understanding of the production design and operational principles behind their products.
Apprentices from a range of local companies attended one-hour sessions in the purpose-built van where they explored the heating systems of the future, where carbon footprint reduction will become more of a priority.
Izzy Thomson, Trainer/Assessor at the college explained: βThis is the first time weβve welcomed the mobile van to the college and it was well-received by everyone.Β The apprenticesβ conversation with Worcester Boschβs training officer covered the differences between boilers powered by gas and electricity.Β They also talked about the different career opportunities and working lifestyles of engineers based in different parts of the world.
βThis all helps to enhance their industry knowledge and shape their professional aspirations going forward.β
