Creative media students attend interactive movie West End premiere
Creative media students at Walsall College have attended their first London premiere for a ground-breaking interactive movie as a thank you for supporting its production and contributing to the soundtrack.
Lawrence, an interactive urban drama premiered at the Odeon, Leicester Square.
Following the screening, the students took part in a Q&A session with the production executive team, sharing their experiences of being involved in the project and their thoughts on how the film encourages the audience to dictate the storyline using mobile technology. Those involved in the production of a song for the interactive game also performed this on stage.
The film was created by It’s On You Entertainment in collaboration with Real Direction. It is available to download through It’s On You Entertainment’s in-house App so that viewers can make decisions about the fate of the main character and consider more carefully the impact of the life choices being made.
It’s On You Entertainment was founded by game developer and artist, Luke Cato.
Luke said: “It’s been really important for as many young people as possible to get involved in the project because essentially they’re the audience.
“Working with the students to bring Lawrence’s story to life through music has been special. I can’t thank Melissa and the media department at the college enough for always championing It’s On You Entertainment and Real Direction.”
The students were also given the opportunity to feedback on the movie during a news broadcast with BBC Midlands Today.
After watching Lawrence, creative media student, Lyla Hughes said: “I feel it can be quite eye-opening for people to watch the consequences of certain life decisions unfold, with less and less control over the outcomes.”
