Christmas 2025 at Walsall College

December has seen the return of some festive favourite campus events in support of local worthy causes and community groups.
Here’s a round-up of what our students, staff (with the help of some business and community partners) have been involved in –
Winter Wonderland
For the fourth-year running, Wisemore Campus atrium transformed itself into a festive market featuring music performances and games, as well as snacks, sweets and gifts sold by students and staff. These included handmade jewellery, cards, crafts and 3D-printed decorations.
£981.86 was raised for Smile For Joel as a result.
Green Lane Jumper Day
The festive clothing, bingo cards, pizza and quiz sheets were out in force for a third consecutive year as Green Lane Campus’s student success team hosted their annual Jumper Day. Their activities raised £138 for Cancer Research UK and Dementia UK.
Spreading Christmas cheer for hospital patients
Year 1 T Level Health Students at Walsall College created and presented staff at Walsall Manor Hospital and News Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton with specially wrapped Christmas gift boxes for children and young people spending the festive period on their Children’s Ward.
Lecturer, Neelam Pallen said: “The Christmas boxes are a gesture from our T Level students to bring comfort and joy to children and young people spending Christmas in hospital. Over four weeks, they collected donated toys and gifts, decorated shoeboxes, wrapped games, and wrote special Christmas cards to spread a little festive magic.”
College students attending their personal development sessions also took time out to design cards and write messages to patients of all ages in hospital as a way of showing that them that they were thinking of them.
Seasonal spirit at Pleck Library
Local families came together for a community learning event at Pleck Library.
The event saw everyone making seasonal-themed tote bags, write letters to Father Christmas, complete a quiz/puzzle and colouring activities.
Father Christmas also paid a visit on his sleigh, with £42.00 raised for Bloxwich Rotary Club’s chosen charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice, Walsall.
