Christmas 2021 at Walsall College
The show has gone on this year in more ways than one.
Fundraising and community engagement activities, plus live industry and employer-led work experience has led to students and staff getting fully into the festive spirit. Here’s what’s been happening across our curriculum and campuses:
The fairest panto of them all
Performing arts (dance) students have cha cha-ed and tango-ed their way into Walsall Arena’s 2021 panto, Snow White. Nine dancers are appearing in matinee and evening shows, after auditioning for the show’s choreographer and his team.
Nailing it on the accessories front
It really does look a lot of like Christmas at Green Lane Campus reception. A Christmas grotto in fact. Last year, joinery apprentices raised £63 for Smile for Joel after the two wooden Christmas trees and sleigh they built were raffled off. This year, their multi-sized trees, reindeer and sleigh have raised over £110.
Family Fun at Hawbush Campus
A festive fun day led to 35 families taking part in learning activities involving English, maths and IT. Santa handed out presents to children while parents/carers explored study opportunities available across the college in the new year.
A house good enough to eat
A gingerbread house created by early years students and staff is home to foodbank donations from Wisemore Campus students and staff. As referral agents for the Black Country Foodbank and many Trussell Trust Foodbanks, the college will present all the items to them in time for Christmas.
