Jet2.com and Jet2holidays fly in for careers sessions
Leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has worked with students from Walsall College. This involved hosting a number of career sessions and sharing an insiders’ view of the company’s recruitment process.
The company’s brand champion Amanda Kay recently put six students through their paces, conducting mock interviews for the role of customer helper in a resort.
Lecturer, Gina Turner said: “Jet2.com’s guest lecture and mock interviews were a real confidence boost for our students. They received an overview of the company and details of its expansion plans. They also learned about the many different jobs available, including the apprenticeship and graduate opportunities.
“This has given them a much better idea of how to research and apply for roles on the company’s careers website www.jet2careers.com. A number of them have already submitted applications.
“It’s encouraged them to identify the skills they can further develop before taking their first steps into the industry.”
Commenting on the students’ interview performance, Amanda Kay added: “The students all carried themselves very well.
“Jet2.com and Jet2holidays takes pride in being a family friendly company, offering value for money and providing an award-winning VIP customer service. If the students continue to keep these values in mind, then they will be successful in whatever career path they decide to go down and we’re proud to have played a part in that.”
Seven of the students taking part in the sessions also received £60 vouchers to go towards their next holiday. They won these after taking part in a team Q&A challenge about the company.
Curriculum Manager, David Higgins commented: “We look forward to developing our relationship with Jet2.com further. Working with such a fantastic market leader will have a huge impact on the student experience. It will enable the curriculum to continue its focus in building students skills and confidence towards employment.”
