Apprentice Voice Conference accelerates ambitions and achievements
Flexible study options and continuous support from vocational coaches were just two of the things that apprentices said they enjoyed about their training with Walsall College.
Around 50 apprentices from different sectors attended the college’s Apprentice Voice Conference during National Apprenticeship Week.
They were encouraged to share thoughts on their training, wider college experience and career progression with different college teams.
In turn, the apprentices received updates on the actions taken in response to feedback from last year’s inaugural conference.
The apprentices’ collective input will help develop and refine the apprentice experience for both existing and future trainees.
“I chose to attend the conference so I could support my professional development by meeting new people and representing my sector,” said Andrew Wright, a business administration apprentice. “It was nice to do both things and hear what others had to say.
“The conference helped to prove that Apprenticeships offer learners a diverse range of experiences, opportunities to network and expand your career horizons.”
Pharmacy apprentice, Kasim Haroon added: “There was a lot of enthusiasm around the topics we talked about and the way we were encouraged to aim high and achieve.
“I think everyone took a lot from the day.”
Keynote speaker was Kamal Ellis-Hyman from Aim a Little Higher who discussed the importance of individuals getting to know themselves and their strengths, using these as tools with which to succeed in life regardless of the path taken.
