Students aim high at HE Fair
Walsall College held a Higher Education Fair to help their students find out about progression opportunities available to them after completing their courses.

Students spoke to representatives from 30 universities, including Aberystwyth, Cardiff, Keele, BCU and the University of Birmingham.
The representatives delivered talks on student finance, personal statements and HE interview preparation. Advice on courses was also covered, along with entry requirements, and facilities and accommodation available.
There was also a stand representing the college’s own higher education provision, which offers HNC, HND and Top-Up degrees in a wide range of subjects, including Photoghraphy, Hospitality Management, Computing and Fashion.
Accredited by Birmingham City University, the college’s Top-Up degrees are offered to successful HND/FdA graduates at a fraction of the average university cost.
The fair was attended by all Level 3, HNC and HND students looking to find out more about university options.
Jennifer Clarke, Guidance & Progression Co-ordinator at Walsall College, said: “The college strives to ensure that our students gain as much exposure and information to opportunities available to them locally and nationally, so that they are fully aware of progression routes to help them achieve their career goals.
“Our aim is to raise students’ aspirations, keep students motivated and inspired and most importantly ready for the world of work.
“Last year over 400 of our full-time students successfully secured university places, including to some of the country’s top institutions, dispelling the myth that A-level courses are the only route to university.”
She added: “The feedback from the event has been extremely positive and the university representatives were all very impressed with our students as they felt they had very clear career goals.”
Walsall College offers HNCs, HNDs and Top-Up degrees in subjects including Photography, Automotive, Business Finance and Enterprise, Computing and ICT, Fashion, Graphic Design, Hospitality and Media.
