Spotlight on Talent – Raheil

Studied: Workshops at The Link
Progression: Cabin Crew
Despite having an extensive CV and big ambitions to work as cabin crew, Raheil experienced difficulties starting out in his dream career. That is, until he accessed help from The Link.
12 months later, he achieved his goals.
“The Link has done so much for me,” said Raheil whose previous roles included working in a bank and for a water company.
“My CV had a makeover so employers could see the real me outright. Before that, it was four pages long, making it a lot harder for me to stand out from other candidates.
“My Link advisor condensed everything for me and highlighted key bits of information which made a huge difference.”
The Link team also encouraged Raheil to keep a close eye on their workshop activities calendar and take part in as many of these as possible.
“I’d applied for cabin crew roles in the past and got to the first interview stage but no further,” said Raheil.
“The Link’s workshops on interview tips, motivation and confidence boosting taught me how to ‘be myself’ with recruiters. I realised I was a bit passive and introverted before now and knew I could be more personable. I came away from these sessions feeling more optimistic about finding long-term work.
“I’d always wanted a customer facing, hands-on role,” continued Raheil. “With the team’s help I’m now in my dream career.
“In some ways, I don’t see it as work because it’s often more about seeing and meeting different people, which I really enjoy. I’m also interested in exploring bigger opportunities within this industry in a way that is different to how I felt about my previous job roles, so I’m happier now than I’ve ever been.”
