Walsall College opens Cannock Campus for local jobseekers
Cannock jobseekers can access a wider range of support services through a newly-launched local training centre led by Walsall College. Based at Pioneer House, Mill Street, the centre provides advice and short, employer-led courses to those aged 19 and over.
James Norris, Assistant Principal, said: “The college is delighted to be based in a more central Cannock location. Here we can work more closely and on a long-term basis with employers, fully supporting their recruitment and training needs. Our partnership with McArthurGlen for the West Midlands Designer Outlet is just one example of this.
He continued: “We’re also keen to do more with local residents, particularly those hit hardest by the pandemic as they aim to get back into work, retrain for new careers or develop IT and digital skills. We have a highly experienced team of trainers and career advisors providing personalised support in key areas. They can guide people through the interview process, finding ways to make them stronger candidates for new and emerging vacancies.
“Residents are encouraged to contact us now to see how we can help them move in the right direction.”
Employers looking to recruit to their workforce without the need to advertise, contact Centre Manager, Debbie Illidge to develop a tailormade pre recruitment training programme to suit your business needs in areas such as; Retail, Customer Service, Health or Childcare, Warehousing including forklift licence as well as preparation for working in construction including CSCS card.
Cannock residents who are long-term unemployed can also access the college’s Connecting Communities programme, which offers advice and guidance to employees at risk of, or who have been made redundant.
