Manager award acclaim for Charlotte

A student services manager at Walsall College has won an industry award in recognition of her positive impact on colleagues and the services they provide their learners. Charlotte Wood was named Newcomer of the Year at the National Association for Managers of Student Services (NAMSS)
The awards are aimed at celebrating and showcasing the hard work, dedication and impact of student services across the further education and skills sector in the UK.
Charlotte who is the college’s head of student wellbeing, inclusion and safeguarding received her award at a prestigious ceremony held in Birmingham.
Commenting on her award, Charlotte said: “To be nominated was an honour, let alone to win!
“I find individual awards difficult to accept, as there have been many people that have been part of how we have evolved and continue to progress the college’s safeguarding and wellbeing services for our community. The work we do on a daily basis is meaningful and purposeful.
“Staff at Walsall College play a vital role in championing students to ensure that they have the skills in life to be successful and thrive. Through their dedication and compassion, they ensure students feel seen, heard, valued, supported, challenged, and encouraged. I am so proud to be part of a team that values fostering a sense of belonging throughout our college community.”
Rachel Jones, Assistant Principal for MIS, Information and Student Services added: “Charlotte thoroughly deserved this award through the positive impact she has had since joining the college and particularly the impact on our students, which was evident in her award submission. She is passionate about delivering and supporting our students to achieve their full potential.”
