Walsall MP thanks friends of Walsall College for food bank support
Walsall North MP Eddie Hughes popped in to Walsall College’s restaurant, The Littleton to join them in thanking people contributing to their food bank initiative.
Since mid-November, The Littleton has been appealing for items. Students and staff across the campuses are also collecting goods. These are being sent to Black Country Food Bank and The Trussell Trust.
Restaurant Manager, Lee Bate said: “Around 1,400 people dined here this time last year. As a way of keeping in touch with customers and friends, we suggested they use money traditionally spent in our restaurant to purchase food for others in need. Their generosity has been overwhelming.
Lee Bate added: “It’s an indication of how people are willing to come together to help others. And to stay in touch with local businesses.”
Eddie Hughes MP added: “I was delighted to visit Walsall College today to see all the hard work going into their food bank initiative. This is yet another example of the great work Walsall College are doing to support their students and the local community.”
