Walsall College construction campus gets go ahead for major expansion
Walsall College has unveiled plans for the expansion of its Green Lane Campus. A three-floor extension at the campus on Long Acre Street will enhance the construction trade course facilities available to students and employers.
Additional space will be made in the gas and plumbing, carpentry and electrical workshops and classrooms. There will be more social space available to students, along with new canteen and reception areas.
Work will start in December with the building work completed in Autumn 2023.
Principal and Chief Executive of Walsall College, Jatinder Sharma OBE DL said: “We are pleased to have received planning approval to enhance our training facilities for a range of construction trades.
“It is hugely important for students to develop skills specific to their chosen trade in a modern working environment. With the help of our employer partners, such as Taylor Wimpey and Worcester Bosch, we will also go further with the on-site demonstrations, company-set projects, industry showcases and careers talks that full and part-time students and apprentices are involved in so they are well-prepared for the existing and future job market.”
The Bell Decorating Academy for painting and decorating students, developed with The Bell Group will also remain part of the campus.
