The Littleton retains five-star hygiene rating prestige

Staff and customers at Walsall’s favourite restaurant, The Littleton are celebrating after retaining their five-star hygiene rating.

This was the first assessment carried out by the Food Standards Agency since the pandemic.

It covered the Walsall College-based restaurant’s handling, storage and preparation of food, the cleanliness of their facilities and how food safety is managed.

Expressing the restaurant team’s delight at this achievement, Sous Chef, Paul Ingleby said: “Retaining this rating at the highest level means a lot to everyone in our front of house and kitchen team, as well as our customers.

“The inspectors were impressed with the robust systems we have in place to support customers with specific dietary requirements; particularly as providing appropriate information and recommendations to those with food allergies is now such a crucial part of the service standards our industry should uphold.”

Paul continued: “Although we have achieved recognition for our menus and service in many different ways over the years, we never take our success for granted.  We are always actively looking for ways to further improve on our reputation for high quality fine dining while managing our resources sustainably and delivering value for money.

“We look forward to celebrating this recent success and welcoming new and loyal customers over the summer.”
