Spotlight on Talent – Daniel Hartill

Studying – Level 3 Sports Coaching and Development
After winning a team bronze medal for cross-country at the AoC Sport National Championships in April 2022, Daniel Hartill is now determined to return next year with the football team.
“The national championships are a great experience for student athletes,” said Daniel.
“You’re competing with the best of the best. Being there in 2023 with the football team would be a way to recognise all our hard work and dedication.”
Having developed coaching skills through his Level 3 qualification, his career plans involve progression to a sports degree with a view to becoming a PE teacher.
“The college has been good at raising awareness of different careers within sport,” said Daniel. “I’d previously delivered training sessions at my secondary school. Now I do independent sessions. I’ve improved a lot in this role and become a better student all round.
“Concentration was something I used to struggle with, but I’ve been shown ways to help me focus which have really helped.”
A love of sport is what continues to drive Daniel towards performing at his best as an athlete and student then making a success of his future career.
“A job isn’t a job unless you enjoy it,” continued Daniel.
“When I come into college, I’m doing what I love in terms of training at the highest level and being around people who want to win as much as I do.
“I’ll follow these principles whenever I can.”
