Moi elevates his aspiring stylist status

A Walsall College student and aspiring professional hair stylist is achieving industry recognition through a social media mention in a student magazine and by winning an industry competition.
Moi Reyesβ stylist work has appeared on Concept Hairβs online platforms and he has won Pivot Point UKβs Curly hair competition.Β His prize is a mannequin worth around Β£160.00.
βWhen Pivot Point called to tell me the news, it was a βhands in the airβ moment,β said Moi.Β βIt means a lot to be acknowledged for what Iβm trying to achieve as a professional stylist.Β Being represented is important for me too as a 30-year-old male, originally from the Philippines who is retraining after a career in customer service.
βI feel thereβs a market for someone like me who can attract clients from this ethnic background.β

Despite only starting his training in September, Moi already has a small client base for his styling services.Β He has a styling chair, mirror and a selection of hair products at his home and is enjoying specialising in finished curly hair looks.
βThe college has done so much to support me,β Moi continued.Β βLecturers recognise how passionate I am about my dreams.Β They make sure to adapt the industry knowledge they share to fit my ambitions while making sure I get a full grounding in all the skills I need.
βThey also encourage everyone to be proactive online to help build a name for themselves.Β Thatβs why I put myself forward for Pivot Pointβs competition.Β This is opening so many doors for me now that Iβm really excited about my future.β
