Amelia and Ella are competition ready

A hairdressing student and a beauty therapy student at Walsall College are putting their creativity and wider professional skills to the test by taking part in prestigious industry competitions.
Amelia Jahanpour is taking part in the 2022 Concept Hair Learner of the Year competition while Ella Anslow has entered the Hair and Beauty Awards 2022.
Level 3 hairdressing student, Amelia is one of the six finalists taking part in the Avant Garde category of the event at Solihull College.
“Being in the competition is both an exciting and nerve-wracking concept,” she said. “Especially as I feel like I’m playing catch-up with my practical abilities because the pandemic made it impossible for learners like me to be able to practice on clients in a salon setting.
“I’ve got a specific creative vision in mind for the competition though and I’m doing as much practice as I can ahead of the event to help with my confidence.”
Beauty therapy student, Ella also has her make-up brushes on standby to take part in the beauty therapy category of the Hair and Beauty Awards.
“I see industry competition as the best way to enhance my future status as a professional artist and therapist,” she said. “It will give me more creditability.
“There are lots of competition categories focusing on specific beauty treatments such as nails, eyebrows, lashes and waxing. I chose to enter for beauty therapy as I was keen to showcase my skills in lots of areas. This is potentially how I’ll be settling myself up in future.”
