Spotlight on Talent – Alisha Ash
Studied: Level 1 and Level 2 Motor Vehicle Maintenance followed by T Level in Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing (Maintenance Engineering Technologies: Mechanical)
Progression: BSc Automotive and Motorsport Engineering – Staffordshire University
Alisha Ash’s proudest moment on her T Level course was machining her very first component.
“I’d never touched this type of machinery before,” said Alisha. “Learning to operate it on my own and make something from scratch was amazing.”
Having always been interested in the automotive industry, motorsport in particular, Alisha saw the T Level qualification as a good pathway towards studying this subject at degree level.
She now believes it is a good pathway for students looking to learn and build on the basics of engineering before specialising in a specific area.
“If you’re someone who enjoys academic learning and likes applying theory and processes in a practical way then you’re perfect for this course,” continued Alisha.
“It’s a well-rounded course drawing lots of information and practical applications from many different sectors. All students will find this useful.”
She added: “My T Level shaped my ambitions. It’s shown me which sectors I can apply all my knowledge to.
“And it’s given me an idea of what the industry will look like for me in future.”
