Walsall College earns prestigious global health and safety award from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA

Walsall College has won its 13^th consecutive RoSPA Award, demonstrating their continued commitment to health and safety excellence.  The RoSPA President’s Health and Safety Award also acknowledges their dedication to keeping students, staff and visitors safe across their campuses and commercial enterprises including The Littleton and Grad Salon.

Now in its 69^th year, and with almost 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries, covering over seven million employees, the RoSPA Awards are the world’s largest health and safety awards programme, recognising those organisations and individuals who have set the highest standards in accident prevention.

Whether seeking non-competitive excellence recognition or entering for a competitive award across 20 industry sectors, each RoSPA Award entrant is assessed against rigorous criteria, making Walsall College a world leader in shaping safer, healthier workplaces.

In order to share important learning and build on the strong health and safety foundations required to enter the RoSPA Awards, the award entry process can be used as reflective practice to contribute to continuing professional development (CPD).

Lee Bate, at Walsall College said: “My colleagues and I are, of course, incredibly pleased to receive the RoSPA President’s Award once more.  For our 2025 submission, we  worked from the bottom up in outlining our policies and procedures, particularly in relation to our Smarter Response initiative regarding preparing for a crisis situation.”

Lee continued: “This year-on-year recognition is never something we take for granted. If anything, we see it as motivation to strive even further in ensuring our estate and facilities meet the highest possible safety standards while supporting individual needs.

“This achievement is the result of a team effort across our college community, and we are grateful for everyone’s involvement.”
