Walsall Life

Walsall is a lively, culturally diverse town of over 250,000 people close to England’s second largest city, Birmingham in the UK’s Midlands. Our main campus is next to the central shopping area, convenient for bus, coach and rail stations and just a few minutes drive from the motorway network.

Walsall was once famous as a centre for its leatherwork and it is still one of Britain’s major centres for the production of leather goods, including bridles and saddles for horses. Walsall also has a reputation as a centre for the Arts and its new Art Gallery has been nationally praised for its innovative design. The new Art Gallery is part of a major redevelopment of the town centre which will improve public transport facilities and transform a former industrial area next to the town’s canal into a vibrant waterfront quarter featuring cafes, restaurants and bistros.

Town Versus City

There are many advantages to living in a town rather than in a big city. The pace of life tends to be less frantic, people are usually friendlier, have more time for you and the cost of food and accommodation is often lower.

But, if you come to Walsall you don’t have to miss out on the excitement of city life. London is only two hours away by train with an array of tourist attractions, shopping and nightlife for you to enjoy. Britain’s second city, Birmingham, is just a twenty minute bus or train ride and has a wealth of great bars, clubs and attractions including the Bull Ring Shopping Mall, the largest shopping experience in Europe.
