What is the WMCA?

The WMCA is the West Midlands Combined Authority and are designed to boost the local regions economy by building a better connected, more prosperous, fairer, greener, and healthier West Midlands. Andy Street is the current Mayor, and will be in office until May 2024, acting as a voice for for the region, nationally and globally.

Walsall College are running a number of courses that are fully funded by the WMCA, if you meet the criteria set below.

Free Course Eligibility

  • You must live within the WMCA area (Walsall, Aldridge, Bloxwich, Wednesbury, Dudley,  Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Stourbridge, Solihull, Coventry, Aston, Fordbridge, Erdington, and Sutton Coldfield) For an interactive map please visit the WMCA website.
  • You are aged 19 or above on 31st August within the 2022 to 2023 funding year.
  • Not have completed a Level 3 course previously or have achieved a Level 3 before 1st April 2021. See WMCA learner eligibility for full details
  • Be a UK resident
