Garry is the college’s MIS Manager for Funding and Compliance, heading up the Compliance, Customer Services and Student Data functions. He previously worked for Walsall Adult & Community college as their Quality & MIS Manager and joined Walsall College as a result of the merger between the two organisations.
Garry has a wide range of knowledge and experience of working within Management Information Systems (MIS) and is responsible for ensuring the college meets its obligations to its funding agencies in regard to adhering to funding rules and data returns, and in carrying out internal funding audits.
Prior to moving into education in 2012, Garry had spent 28 years working in the private sector for the Midlands Co-operative Society. His career began in 1977 working for 12 years as a ‘Milkman’ within the dairy division before he decided to progress within the company. He held a number of positions leading up to the dairy’s regional manager responsible for in excess of 1,000 milk delivery personnel and support staff.
On his journey over the past 47 years of employment, Garry has gained valuable experience in a number of fields, but feels most passionately about his experience and knowledge gained working with people. Garry strongly believes that people are the key to success and making sure they are given the right training, support and encouragement has always been an important part of his working life.
Garry was appointed as a Support Staff Governor in March 2023.
