Deaf Academy
Downloads
Our Deaf Academy can provide a high level of support to D/deaf/deafblind students. Deaf/deafblind students will be supported by BSL and deafblind interpreters, all qualified to a minimum of Level 3.
For deaf students who do not use BSL, a note taker can be provided. In addition, all D/deaf/deafblind students receive one-to-one language support for up to 2 hours per week.
There is also a team of deaf and hearing specialist lecturers who teach basic skills in literacy, numeracy and an enrichment programme of Citizenship Studies. The Deaf Academy has an area where students can meet during break times and find support from Deaf Academy staff if needed.
The Deaf Academy team also provides Deaf Awareness Training for hearing staff and students across the College. For interpreting support for Deaf students, contact 01922 657052.
