The course provides a sound background for a career in health and social care. The course combines both academic and practical aspects related to health and social care and can enable successful students to progress to the Higher National Certificate or related university degree programmes. The course is made up of core and optional units at each stage of the qualification and is equivalent to 3 A Levels. 200 mandatory placement hours in a suitable health and social care setting is also required.

5 GCSEs at grades C / GCSE grade 4 or above including English Language/Literature and/or Maths, or a Level 2 related qualification (minimum Extended Diploma) at overall Merit grade.
Can contribute towards UCAS points for progression to Foundation Degree in Community Health and Social Care or other health or care related higher education programmes, including healthcare practitioners; nursing; midwifery or social work.
