Access Courses are designed specifically with the needs of learners who have been out of compulsory education for 3 years or more. They provide a second chance for learners whose social and/or educational experiences have, so far, prevented them from realising their potential. Each subject consists of subject specific units and a number of common units in English, maths, study skills and personal development.

The College currently offers four options namely: Education Studies, Social Work, Health Professions, and Social Sciences. Each option prepares learners for higher education in their chosen area.

Access Courses are intensive and are run over a maximum of 15 hours per week, though much further study is required outside the classroom and some relevant experience is required for entrance to university degree programmes (this experience can be gained whilst on the Access programme, however, candidates must source their own placements).
