Walsall Council have recently secured funding to offer local businesses paid work placements for candidates that are 25+. Below is an outline of the programme which will start at the beginning of 2022.

25+ years olds Work Placements

Walsall Works will be piloting paid work placements modelled on the national Kickstart scheme, targeting adults aged 25 years+. Works+ will provide financial grant support to employers to create 16 work placements targeted at universal credit claimants who are aged 25+ from key target groups. These individuals will be those who:

  • That are registered to our ESF Impact programme and DWP’s Restart programme.
  • Reside in our top 7 deprived wards (St Matthews, Blakenall, Birchills Leamore, Palfrey, Pleck, Willenhall South),
  • Are vulnerable, social housing tenants, 50+ claimants or those individuals who have recently been made redundant.

Walsall Works is looking for 16 employers who are committed to social value and creating sustainable employment pathways for our vulnerable residents.

The placements will offer grants to cover 16 hours per week for up to 6 months or full time hours for 4 months, and will be fully funded including any employer contributions. Employers will also be offered financial support to provide a wrap- around service offering employability support with training.
