Stuart started his accountancy career in Walsall before moving to Birmingham and qualifying as an accountant with Clement Keys in 1990. After a spell in industry, he set up an accountancy training company with a colleague, which was sold to Kaplan (formally the Financial Training Company) in 1995.

He held several senior positions within Kaplan, including Head of Learning where he was responsible for the development of their education and learning strategy. A senior lecturer since joining the company, he specialises in financial management. Stuart left Kaplan in 2024 after 30 years and is now working with organisations in the financial education sector advising on evidence-based learning as well as helping them navigate the impact of Artificial Intelligence.

He is also the author of two books, one on exam techniques, the other, a student’s guide to writing business reports that he co-authored with a colleague. Stuart is a regular blogger and contributor to the education landscape in the form of articles and insight.

Stuart was appointed to the Corporation in October 2015.
