Stuart Pedley-Smith

Governor

Stuart started his accountancy career in Walsall before moving to Birmingham and qualifying as an accountant with Clement Keys in 1990. After a spell in industry he set up an accountancy training company with a colleague, which was sold to Kaplan (formally the financial training company) in 1995.

Since then he has held a number of senior positions within Kaplan and has been the Head of Learning since 2012, responsible for delivering on Kaplan’s learning strategy in the UK. A senior lecturer since joining the company, he specialises in financial management and although not lecturing as much as he once did, still thoroughly enjoys this part of his role.

He is also the author of two books, one on exam techniques, the other, a student’s guide to writing business reports that he co-authored with a colleague. Stuart is a regular blogger and contributor to the education landscape in the form of articles and insight.

Stuart was appointed to the Corporation in October 2015.
