Prof Jaswinder Dhillon

Governor

Jaswinder is Professor of Education at the University of Worcester and has taught in adult, further and higher education. She is passionate about enabling all students to achieve their full potential in her work as a lecturer and researcher and in her role as governor at Walsall College. Professor Dhillon’s recent research has focused on partnership working between post-16 education and training providers, learning and teaching and the quality of students’ experience of education.

In her work at the university, she teaches and supervises postgraduate students most of whom are teachers, lecturers or managers in schools or colleges in the Black Country. During her career in teacher education, Jaswinder has taught in other countries including, Holland, China, Mauritius and the Solomon Islands. She also regularly presents her research at conferences in the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to her full-time job, Jaswinder is involved in a number of voluntary roles including, foundation governor at a secondary school in Walsall and a member of the managing committees of two educational journals. She also maintains strong links with the Sikh community and contributes her time to voluntary activities, including giving lectures to teachers in India and developing international exchanges for students and teachers.

Jaswinder was appointed to the Corporation in July 2014.
