David Turner ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL - QUALITY & HE
After graduating with a Degree in Fine Art, David worked as a commercial photographer for some years, including work in corporate video production.
His tenure as resident artist in a ceramic studio included the demonstration of pottery techniques and decoration to visitors and school parties, which he rather enjoyed, which got him thinking about teaching as a profession.
He worked as technical support in an arts and drama college and moved into teaching photography and media soon after, eventually turning to the dark side (curriculum management) as head of school for creative industries. Parallel to this David has worked for several awarding organisations and has visited most of the FE colleges in the land as standards verifier across many different qualifications.
This experience, and an MA in Educational leadership, enabled him to secure a Director role in Quality Assurance for Walsall College, leading to Assistant Principal for Quality and Higher Education some years later. David continues his work as a creative and commercial photographer and regularly exhibits his work.
