Application process

Applying for a course at Walsall College is simple and our Student Services team are here to make the process even easier for you. 

From helping you decide which course is right for you to giving you advice on your finances, our Student Services team are always on hand to offer impartial advice, guidance and support as and when you need it.

Our courses can be very popular so once you have decided which course you want to do, it is a good idea to apply as early as possible. Our application checklist is there to help you through the process.

Ways you can apply

There are a number of ways you can apply to the college:

  1. Fill in the application form in the back of the prospectus and either post it to us or bring it into our Wisemore Campus
  2. Ring the college and request an application form in the post
  3. Apply via the website.

How to apply via the website

Before making the application please make sure you have all of the information you require to complete your application such as your exam results, predicted grades and contact details for you references.

  1. Choose your course from the course menu.
  2. Click the ‘Apply’ button
  3. Complete the application form providing us as much information as possible. Any question with a * next to it indicates that we require this information to process your application.
  4. Once you are happy with all of the information you have provided click ‘Apply’ to submit your application.
  5. You will get confirmation on screen that your application has been received

Following your application

  1. A member of our Student Services team will contact you with a time and date for an interview and an initial assessment
  2. Attend your interview and assessment
  3. Receive the result of your interview
  4. If successful, accept offer of a place on the course
  5. Enrol at Walsall College!

How to apply for a full-time HE course

Find out more at www.ucas.com

  • Apply through UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service system
  • Apply from October 2017 for courses starting 2018
  • Make sure UCAS receives your application by 15 January, unless it’s listed with a 15 October deadline
  • For art and design courses make sure UCAS receives your application by 24 March, unless it’s listed with a 15 January deadline
  • If you apply after the deadline, the College will consider your application on an individual basis if places are still available.

How to apply for a part-time HE course and for Access to Higher Education courses

  • Apply directly to Walsall College on a college application form (either available online, or call us to request one). Once we have received your application we will arrange an interview with the relevant admissions tutor.
  • Do not apply through UCAS. There are fees attached to these courses. For more information, call our Customer Advice and Support Centre on 01922 657000
  • You can now apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover tuition fees for an Access to HE course. Find out more about Advanced Learner Loans at https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan

  10. Enrol at Walsall College!
