Carol trained in hospitality and catering management and worked as a manager and a training adviser with the industrial training board.
From 1986 Carol focused on employment, training and economic regeneration for Walsall Council and the Black Country Consortium. During this time she worked closely with the education, business, voluntary and community sectors in the borough. This included taking responsibility for accessing and managing European funds, establishing the North Black Country Regeneration Zone and policy management for the Black Country Study.
Carol was interested in becoming a governor because she felt that her experience of working in the borough and career in training and economic regeneration would be a useful set of skills to help support, develop and oversee the running of Walsall College.
Carol was appointed to the Corporation in March 2011, having previously been an Associate Governor. During 2011/12 she was appointed as Chair of the Learning & Quality Committee and is also a member of the Student Voice, Search & Governance Standards, Audit and Remuneration Committees.
