The event took place at the college’s Wisemore Campus, offering new and returning students the opportunity to find out about the range of activities they can take part in, including volunteering, trips, clubs and free gym and sports activities.
Attended by over 400 students, the fair was awash with gazebos, bunting and stalls where local brands offered out freebies and some exclusive discounts.
Over 16 local organisations and charities promoted their services at the event, including the Army, Co-op, Network West Midlands, Sweet Desserts and Healthwatch.
As Walsall College is committed to supporting the health of our students, free information and advice on health services – both mental and physical – was also available.
The college’s student engagement team were on hand at the event, encouraging students to get involved with college life. There was a stand offering information on the Students’ Union, the NUS Extra Discount Card and volunteering opportunities both within college and in the local area.
Helen Griffiths, Student Engagement Officer at Walsall College, said, “The Big Hello Freshers’ Fair was an amazing success. We had a lot of positive feedback from students, who described the event as fun and useful.
It was a great opportunity for new and returning students to meet each other and discover what Walsall College and the local area has to offer”.
